Moto X4 Android One handset unveiled, will be available in US via Fi carrier

As speculated, Google and Motorola officially announced Android One variant of the Moto X4 on Wednesday. It is first Android One device to be launched in the United States and will be available to purchase from Google’s carrier, Fi, for a price of $399. The device will be offered in the colors silver/sterling blue and black. Now we have a new handset(Moto X4) to enroll in the Android One smartphone list along with newly released Xiaomi’s Mi A1 handset.

When compared to variant Motorola offered in European countries as well as other parts of the world Android One version of the X4 is a bit different which is “pure Android experience”. By “pure Android experience” means it is short on a number of additional improvements that Motorola provides in their normal Android handsets. Apart from all these Android One X4 will become the very first non-Google smartphone to be provided via Google’s own Project Fi service. Before this Google’s Nexus and Pixel smartphones were the handsets which were sold and worked officially with Fi service.

On this Android One variant, you won’t find Moto features like One-button nav options, Moto Access, Moto Voice etc and most importantly Fi X4 variant won’t include Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant either.  But it will have the normal Google Assistant as an alternative along with Moto’s useful gestures and display personalization options.

Other hardware specifications and features of Fi Moto X4  are similar to the one launched earlier. Fi X4 comes with a  5.2-inch Full HD 1080p touchscreen display, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor along with 3GB of RAM, 32 GB of expandable internal storage, 12 MP + 8 MP dual camera on the backside, 16 MP selfie shooter in front side with a delicate low-light feature and 3000 mAh non-removable lithium-ion battery. The Moto X4 has also scored IP68 water as well as dirt and dust resistance. It is expected to come in colors silver, sterling blue and super black. The handset out of the box will be running Android version 7.1 Nougat. Moto has also guaranteed latest Android 8.0 Oreo update for this handset by end of this year.
