The Essential Phone developed by Android co-founder Andy Rubin was unveiled on May 30 this year and expected to be made available in the month of June. But, the delivery got postponed and the firm lately reported the handset will be made available for sale from its own website and retail affiliates. However, the phone incorporated Android 7.0 Nougat and now a top official of Essential confirmed that their handset will receive the most awaited Android Oreo upgrade within next few months. They shared these details in an AMA on Reddit. They also shared information about a high-class audio accessory currently in developing stage which will include a superior quality DAC as well as a 3 .5mm headphone jack.
Essential’s Vice President of Software, Rebecca Zavin replied to one of the queries made by Reddit users
Joe Tate, Essential’s Vice President of Hardware has also given a hint about accessories which the company is currently developing. He said that
“The first available should be the charging dock. We are also actively developing a high-end audio accessory to support a 3.5mm jack. We are continuing to look at supporting ideas, like cameras”
Founder of the Company, Andy Rubin further announced that the firm is planning to release the Essential Phone in the European market on top priority. Dave Evans, Essential’s Vice President of Design indicated that the Organic White edition is currently running build tests and will be dispatched in coming weeks. Considering the fact that the firm basically has only one handset to upgrade at the moment we presume they will be ready to roll out the upgrade much faster than other OEMs. Officials didn’t share any specific date of release except for the 1-2 month time period.
